"Make all you can. Save all you can. Give all you can. ~ John Wesley
I have little ones in my home, and one of my sweet little ones, has sticky fingers! She just recently found where my Beloved stashes his loose change!
I couldn't help but smile when she had a tight grip on the money that she found and was extremely reluctant to show me what was in her hand! It reminded me of myself. I have many memories of going around the house, hunting for treasure. I remember gathering up all the pennies, nickels and quarters that were scattered around the house often! I always knew where to look! And I bet if I needed a little bit of extra change, I could still walk into my Mom and Dad's house and gather up a good bit of it, probably from the very same locations that I found money years ago.You see, my treasure map consist of three major rooms! The first place, the laundry room, because money was always on the dryer. (mostly pennies and nickels) Occasionally, I could find some in the washer machine too. Typically, my next stop for treasure was my parents junk drawer in the kitchen. It was always filled with a good bit of copper too! However, the end tables in the living room was where the really good stuff was stashed. I would at least find one quarter among a bunch of dimes!
Oh, those where the days, when I thought if I had a dollar, I was rich! I wonder how much money I actually really found? To bad I didn't save it!
I suppose since my little one is already hunting for Treasure, I should add "A piggy bank" to my shopping list! You never know, if her grip on her treasure was as tight as it was the other day, maybe she will actually save her Treasure instead of spend it!
But first thing is first! I have a two year old, who needs to learn a small lesson. I will be giving her a few quarters to put in the offering plate on Sunday, just so that she can know that there is a time to let go of her little grip!
