Camping Chattahoochee

"Once a year go some place you have never been before." D.Lama

We left North Carolina over two weeks ago. We traveled down to Florida for Christmas.  We spent two weeks around the Disney Area.

We are now on our way to the other side of the United States.

Our first stop has been in Chattahoochee, Georgia (right along the I-10 interstate).

The camp ground Beloved picked for our stay has been beautiful. It is right on the water.  A super cool breeze coming off the lake. The lapping of the water and the little birds that float along have been super picture perfect.  Unfortunate, we have all been getting over colds. We had plans to met up with several families and also do some cave exploring but apparently the flu season has caught up with everyone. So, to be on the safe side. with all the different strains of flu going around, we will roll on by only to catch all of them next time.

We pick up and mozzy along in just a day or so...

Hiking a little of Green River

The Green River is the longest river, at 370 miles, to flow completely within the Commonwealth of Kentucky's borders - Corps of Engineer Park

Green River Lake Corps of Engineers Park

Beloved and I haven't been impressed with the 4 Kentucky State parks that we have camped at so far. We camped for a few days at Green River State Park this past week. We didn't enjoy the state park campground. So, when we found out that it had a rating of 2 out of 5 stars we were not surprised.  However, during our stay there, we took a look at one of the Corps of Engineers Parks in the area. It ended up being a beautiful quiet area that was more of what we have in mind when we camp.

I particurally enjoyed the Marina. It was very pretty with all of its houseboats with their American flags.

At lunch time, while exploring the area, we found a quiet, lush green spot for our picnic. Afterwards, the Little Ones spent time playing on a playground.

We also went exploring hand in hand!

We hiked a short trail that lead out to a beautiful rocky point on the lake.
This point was a very pretty spot with a nice cool breeze with plenty of rocks to skip along the lake.
It is always good to know that that the Corps of Engineer Parks (the ones that allow camping) might be a good alternative if we aren't pleased with the State Parks.
