Our family tradition is to send of balloons every Memorial Day in honor of our friends who have died in the war. We have lost so many since 2001 and so this is our way of remembering them. We do this no matter where we are at on Memorial Day.
Today, we found ourselves just outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico. (The Hot Air Balloon Capital)
After stopping for balloons at a local grocery store, we decided that the location we would chose to release them would be a Historic Landmark to the State.
We tied our note to the balloons with the location that we set them off and asked who discovers the balloons to write us and tell us how far they traveled. This year was the first time Beloved was able to do it with us. He is typically always at War over this holiday.
I told Beloved that in this State our note would probably end up on one of those mesas never to be found.
On one side of the bridge is this...
On the other side it looks like this...
He said, "No. More than likely instead of a note, we are more than likely going to get in the mail box a ticket for littering." I was willing to take the risk.
With a short prayer over our soldier friends at war now, their families and those families who have paid the ultimate price, the balloons were released!
