2009 Memorial Day Balloons

Almighty God, who has blessed us with the will and courage to do our duty. We Praise You for our comrades whose death kept freedom living. We Praise You also for giving us the years we have lived since their departure. We Pray you will strengthen and sustain our devotion to truth and justice, so that we may be faithful beneficiaries of their sacrifice. Continue your Mercy to our comrades keep them in Your care; And bring us at last into Your presence there to rejoice eternally. Amen" (A Pilot)

Today was Memorial Day and I was woken up by Beloved saying "You want to go release our Balloons at Fort Donelson after the Memorial Service?" I thought, "Absolutely. " So, off we went with out our umbrellas, to a National Park and Cemetery, to stand out side and get rained on why we experience a small but beautiful service.
The "Colors" going up the pole.
The Little Man sweetly trying to honor too.

Then the Heavens Rain Down on us and I was left with only a few snapshots after the rain passed by.
Just a glimpse of the Civil War "unknown" Markers.
The Gun Salute.
Afterwards, we went down to the "River Batteries". It was here that we did our yearly tradition of releasing "Memorial Day Balloons". We always attach a note to the Balloons.  We included a prayer along with the Tail Number and the Last names of all our Pilots/Crews that died in Afghanistan. These Men served along side Beloved and we dearly love them and their Families.
Getting our balloons ready...
Just about to release them...
May we never forget...

* Balloon found about 4 hours away (by car). The balloons traveled over several bodies of water. The Lady sent a lovely note and is going to start this tradition with her Family.
