Today was Memorial Day and I was woken up by Beloved saying "You want to go release our Balloons at Fort Donelson after the Memorial Service?" I thought, "Absolutely. " So, off we went with out our umbrellas, to a National Park and Cemetery, to stand out side and get rained on why we experience a small but beautiful service.
The "Colors" going up the pole.
The Little Man sweetly trying to honor too.
Just a glimpse of the Civil War "unknown" Markers.
The Gun Salute.
Afterwards, we went down to the "River Batteries". It was here that we did our yearly tradition of releasing "Memorial Day Balloons". We always attach a note to the Balloons. We included a prayer along with the Tail Number and the Last names of all our Pilots/Crews that died in Afghanistan. These Men served along side Beloved and we dearly love them and their Families. Getting our balloons ready...
Just about to release them...
May we never forget...
* Balloon found about 4 hours away (by car). The balloons traveled over several bodies of water. The Lady sent a lovely note and is going to start this tradition with her Family.
