Mount Saint Helens State Park in Washington State
There is a State Park and a National Park both require fees be sure you are aware of the difference. The State Park is as you enter the park. The National Park is up at the base of the volcano. I would suggest the National Park if you want to hike the volcano.
Tuesday, we drove a couple hours to go see Mount Saint Helens.
We arrived at the State Park and took a little hike!
The boys enjoyed some Huckleberry Lolly-pops.
Their eyes are always looking for animals.
One of the Children found a bullfrog.
We drove up to the base of the Volcano into the National Park but it was so cloudy we weren't able to see it. So, instead I took pictures of the drive up.
At one of the Visitor Centers we stretched our legs and did a little bit of out of the car fun.
Mount Saint Helen's showed herself a few days later. So, we were able to see her from a distance. We also flew over her as we said "Goodbye" to the area.
Mount St. Helens is one of our favorite spots, too. In preparation for my third novel, Tenderfoot, I researched the events surrounding the 1980 eruption. Tenderfoot's facts about the mountain are accurate to the day, and then I wove a story around the actual event.
ReplyDeleteAlso, my blog today talks about the mountain's return to life.
