Climbing Whiteside Mountain

The Cherokee name for Whiteside Mountain is Sanigilâ'gĭ ~ National Forest Fact
Whiteside Mountain is in North Carolina and it can boast in having the highest cliffs in South-Eastern North America. So this afternoon, we decided to take the 2 mile hike and have a little picnic on top of the cliffs.

We began at the parking lot and hiked up the rocky back road up to the cliffs. This goes along the left side of the mountain. Once up top, you can then hike across the cliffs on the edge of the mountain. Afterwards, you can follow the steep step path down the other side of the mountain which leads to the parking lot.

Rock jumping along the rocky road trail.

Almost to the scenic views...

The first scenic sight is of the Timber Ridge.

The first view of the cliffs that we were about to hike along.

Starting another climb -- This time over the cliffs.

Going down!

Taking a rest! Even though, we were almost finished!

We have excellent hikers!
