Coloring Sheets of Real Art

Artists are just children who refuse to put down their crayons. ~Al Hirschfeld

They aren't just ordinary coloring sheets. They are coloring sheets copies of real artworks with the History/Author information on the back. The Children enjoy seeing what the Artist did and learning about them but then they color it to make it their own. I am thinking Van Gogh would have an issue with his "Starry Night" being made to look like a "Sunny Day". As you can tell, she isn't to worried about it!

  1. Those are cool, where did you get them? And what is the aw al thing on the other page? Just curious. *smile* I like the artist coloring pictures with the information on the back. Have a great day and good job momma! Sincerely, Mommy of two little blessings & so much more!

  2. It is the Veritas Phonics Museum K and 1st grade Curriculum. It is the seeing, hearing, writing, art, History and Reading (with the Readers) all in one.

The AW/AU/AL is the worksheet that goes along with the phonics rule. They used the word "STRAW" to reinforce the 'AW" phonic sound. The coloring Art worksheet that goes with it is "Haystack in Snow" by Claude Monet. See the "AU" in Claude. They work the sheets to work together.

The "Stary NIght by Van Gogh" is the "GH" phonics Sound. GH in NIght and GH in Van Gogh.

If I was an Unschooler or more of a Charlotte Mason Homeschooler, (or if I didn't spend the money on this curriculum years and years ago), I would use the internet to do the same thing. You can find the coloring pages of famous artist all over the internet and you can use it when you read excellent children's books from the library such as:

    1) The Metropolitan Museum of Art: Can you hear it?
    2) The Metropolitan Museum of Art Can you find it inside?
    3) The metropolitan Museum of Art Can you find it Outside.

  4. What a nice idea. As for Van Gogh, I do love "Starry Night" the way he did it, but "Sunny Day" sounds pretty good, too!

  5. Thanks. I am looking into what is available on the internet for free. Not that I think this is a bad program, just wondering what is out there for free is all. *smile* Sincerely, Mommy of two little blessings & so much more!
