Cooking for Beloved

Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all. - Harriet Van Horne

I always think it is interesting how Ladies determine what recipes they will cook.  I have one friend who won't cook anything if it has over 5 ingredients! I have another friend who only cooks kid friendly recipes. Another sweet lady who I know only cooks with all natural ingredients. I have another friend who cooks for 9 people  - 3 meals -- every day. Then, I have another friend who wouldn't know how to boil water if she wanted to! She cooks with all boxed prepared food or has her maid do it for her!

I never really thought about how I determine what to cook because there never seem to be any rhyme or reason due to the fact that I will try just about anything!  But, I can tell you how recipes stick around!

When Beloved and I were first married I started a 3 ring binder which kept either print off or hand written recipes.  All untried recipes went to the back of the binder. As I under-cooked, badly burned, pulled out of the oven something as hard as a brick, served something rubbery, slopped on to much salt for sugar, didn't cut the veggies up fine enough, or actually had something come out well enough to serve in a restaurant, the recipes were eliminated either by going into the trash or moved to the front of the divider!

The result?  A recipe book exclusively surrounded by Beloved's expencive palate!

A friend told me either I am "crazy in love" or "hopelessly pathetic".

I teased back because I know her cooking secrets.

Anyway, I am happy to say another blog-cooking- hop recipe got moved forward! This was a hit tonight!  Everyone was loving the cheese and all the fresh ingredients.

But, please don't judge it by my sloppy cheesy picture! I tweaked it a little.  I used Chicken instead of the Turkey and I didn't keep the noodles long, instead I snapped the noodles in half so they would fit in my pot.  So, to show you what this delicious recipe is supposed to look like I stole Jill's picture off her blog! And, you must go and steal her recipe.  But, make sure you tell her you are doing so by leaving her a "Hello".
Jill's recipe is here!

  3. Yummers! I haven't ever thought of how I decide what to cook either. I am going to ponder that for a while. Interesting. I also have a binder and a recipe basket and a clip board with new recipes I am wanting to try. I obviously have a recipe hoarding problem! ;)
