Volcano Experiment again

Theia Mons is the largest volcano on Venus. - Astronomy

The Little Man is doing Astronomy this year.
So, of course, he wanted to do make a Venus Volcano just like sister did last year.
This time we added red food coloring for special effect!

So, our last experiment in the Kentucky house was to make a model and exploded it!
We did school up to the last possible moment before the movers came in like busy bees.

  2. This time a pickle jar. Last time a Mason Jar. Then we covered it with salt-dough. Recipe: 1 1/2 cup of white flour, 1/4 cup of salt, 1 tsp cooking oil, 1/4 cup water. I have to tweek it to get a good consistancy. It takes several hours for it to harden up and stick to the jar.

Then, it is hot water in the jar, 2or so drops of dish washing liquid soap, (we actually do more) 2 tsp of baking soda and then the vinegar (we don't measure but they say about 1/3 of a cup). Then, it bubbles out. We just keep exploding it over and over again until all of us are bored! ;)
