Superman and Super Little Feet

Metropolis is the the self-proclaimed "Hometown of Superman," celebrating its local hero every possible way it can. The local bank is "home of super financial services." The town newspaper calls itself The Planet. A sign in the grocery store informs customers: "Just as Superman stands for truth, justice and the American Way, Food World stands for quality, convenience and friendly service." - Metropolis, Illinois home town facts.

Just a couple of hours away from where we live, and our first destination stop for the little ones to "stretch their legs" as we head out on one of Beloved's business trips, is a town known for its super large statue of Super Man.

So, of course we thought it would be a super place to visit.

The town celebrates this fictional character by having their newspaper called The Planet and street names after several fictional characters. Superman is a 15 foot statue made of bronze. All of it is painted except for one spot on his shoe. The spot that is not painted is apparently a place that you can rub for good luck!

It will be fun to come back for the Superman celebration Festival http://www.supermancelebration.net/  and also browse the Superman Museum which is filled with a $2.5 million collection of more than 20,000 items spanning 60 years of Superman memorabilia.
