No risk is too great to prevent the necessary job from getting done.
~Chuck Yeager (Experimental Test Pilot and the 1st to Break the Sound Barrier)
Sunday Afternoon found us hanging out at the Aviation Museum of Kentucky.
This is a fantastic Museum just across the taxi area of the Lexington Airport.
So fun to see the helicopters and planes land and fly away!
Our tour guide encouraged the Little Ones to climb on the wings.
Taking a peek inside.
Flying the “kiddo” simulator. (giggle)
We saw the first plane that was ever flown in Kentucky!
It was made out of bamboo.
It flew several times and actually flew up to 1000 feet.
Those early Aviators were extremely brave in my opinion!
Just so you know, the Paint makes the difference to some!
Looking around, we were surprised to see this…..
I asked the Museum Owner, "Where did you get this?"
I know this as "Roberts Ridge" although the painting has a different name.
The owner knew something was up by my question.
Beloved was just as suprised as I was!
Of course, it spurred on a good bit of conversation for Beloved.
So much so, 80 and 90 year old, “Walking History” Aviators came out of their offices to chit chat!
Always enjoyable!
What great opportunities for your family! And really great for your kids to have additional exposure to military greats, past and present!
