The "Soon To Be Gone" Lake Mills

95 percent of Olympic National Park is designated as Wilderness. - ONP facts

Olympic National Park in Washington State

The afternoon, we drove through the Etwha entrance and decided that we would hike a little of Lake Mills.

The Park is about to take down the dam that was built in the early 1900's.

The Natives are pleased. This will allow the salmon to go back up to more spawning areas and also it will reveal some native holy grounds.

We wanted to take a glimpse of the Lake before the dam is gone.

Entering into the Park.

Enjoying our Picnic lunch.

Just about to hike around some of Lake Mills which will be gone soon.

Come on lets go! I am the leader!

Pointing out a really big slug.

The Little Miss has the best view as usual!

30 minutes into the hike and I am thinking,

"This is more than I bargained for!"

The boys loved it!

The Little Lady not so much...

We couldn't help but giggle.

So, on the way back she did it by herself!

Oops!

Taking a break.

Observing tiny pine cones.

Oooo! Ahhhh!
A waterfall!

Look how big the base of that tree use to be.

Lots of Birds
14 Deer
6 Slugs
1 Centipede
No Cougars
No Bears

And, only 1 wet child who decided to walk into a water stream with his shoes on!
Absolutely, A Perfect Day.

  2. We currntly live in Central Washington, and have yet to visit the rain forest. thanks for sharing the beauty. We find ourselves on the Oregon coast a lot, maybe because i grew up there, it is home. the military has brought us to the High desert. We have made our home here and love it. I was blessed to be all over the East Coast few weeks ago and visited Gettysbug but missed out on Lancaster and the Amish country. Maybe next time. Thanks for the beautiful blog.
