Many National Parks offer visitors the opportunity to join the National Park Service Family as Junior Rangers. Interested students complete a series of activities during their park visit, share their answers with a park ranger, and receive an official Junior Ranger badge or patch and Junior Ranger certificate.~ Junior Ranger Program
Olympic National Park in Washington State
Every National Parks and Monuments and a few State Parks have a Jr Ranger Program. So, one of the first things we do when we arrive at a Park is get the Little Ones their Jr Ranger Booklet. They have age group activities that they have to fill out that requires the Children to spend time exploring the parks, taking hikes, talking to Rangers and filling out the JR Ranger booklets pages.
Each Park has its own booklet. They are all so different!
Every Ranger event for the tourist and the Jr. Rangers are different.
This one was on the Bob Cats and Cougars in the Olympic National Park.
They finished all their work in their booklet over the last few days and the Ranger checked their work.
The Ranger asked them questions about their visit.
They passed!
So, they were then swore in as a Jr Ranger.
The official Jr Ranger badge!
We said, "Goodbye" to the Olympic National Park.
We all bought our Postcards for our Postcard collection.
(I have been collecting Post Cards of every place I have been since I was 6 years old)
The Little Ones grabbed a few fun Nature Fact books.
The Titles?
1. Whose Tracks are these?
2. Who pooped in the Park?
Believe me! I have been hearing about skat facts for hours now!
Highly Educational stuff, you know?
That's what you get for teaching them to read so well. LOL
