Climbing A Column

Astoria Column is a 125 feet tall. It was built in 126 by the Great Northern Railroad. The outside is a mural which shows 14 significant events in the early history of Oregon with a focus of Astoria's role in the discovery of the Columbia River and the Louis and Clark Expedition.

Astoria's Column State Park

Friday was our first full day of exploring a little bit of Astoria, Oregon.

We started out from our hotel just taking a few snap shots of our view.

We decided we would get a birds eye view of the town.

So we headed on up to see the Astoria Column.

After climbing 160ish steps...

We were able to see this...

The bridge is the one that the Little Lady is standing in front of in the above picture.

The water is the Mouth of the Columbia River out into the Pacific Ocean.

Beloved bought all the little boys gliders to throw off the Column.

After we walked all the way down everyone went to find their glider!

  1. Sounds like you are having a lot of fun! I was kind of hoping you would still be in Idaho because we'll be there later this month, but oh well... :-)

A fellow missionary family of ours is from Astoria, OR. I gathered from them that it is a pretty small town, and it is neat to see your pictures of it!

  2. Hi Sarah. Good to hear from you. Aww. Sorry we will be missing you in Idaho. :( That would have been fun.

We are enjoying this little town. I adore the small, quaint feel of this town. It would be easy to fall in love with it.
