"The Kentucky Horse Park is a working Horse Park" - KHP facts
There is a lot to do at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington if you appreciate Horses.
We took a little time going through the museums.
Here is a display that the Art Students in the area created. The Horses depict the History of the Horse from different areas of the world.
Not only did thy have the Kentuckyy Horse Museums but they also had a special exhibit on display for the summer. They had an artifacts from Saudi Arabia about the people and horses that live in the desert. It was very neat. Unfortunately, in order to go through the exhibit we had to check in our cameras, purses and backpacks due the collection being so higly valued. Some of the exhibits were 1000s of years old.
One thing about traveling with Beloved he is full of information when you hit him just at the right time. They had a display of how the desert nomads (Bedouins) live over in the Middle East. He told us a little bit about how he flies over them and what he see when he does. It is always fun to hear little tidbits of random information from all of his trips over there.
In the exhibit my favorite display was the desert saddle blankets in the desert. They were gorgeous.

We also took in the Mare and Foul show too.
They obviously only do this show in the Spring and for a few weeks into the Summer because the separate them at about 6 to 8 months.
The little miniature horses were so precious.
I thought it was interesting that Miniature Horses are used as thearapy animals in nursing homes.
They are also trained to be seeing eye animals for the blind. They are becoming more popular because they can live up to 30 years.
We also saw the Parade of Breeds show!
(The shows are different from year to year)
The drill team!
All young girls (they start at the age of 9) with their horses.
They are doing the pin wheel.
Beloveds favorite was the Thoroughbred.
He likes their gracefulness.
They are pretty! But, I like the draft Horses!
The Clydesdale, Belgians, Percheron, and Shires!
I like how they are very big and they appear as if they would be clumsy.
However, their owners say that they give one of the best rides around.
This boy is a Percheron.
The Lady who is playing Jon of Arch is his owner.
She said that 3 months ago she couldn't even mount him.
He was just beautiful!
The rest of the afternoon we spent just walking around a bit.
They boys wanted a picture them on the chair.
The Little Miss was backpacked as usual so no pics of her!
The Little Lady didn't want to be in the picture because she was on her way down to the bookstore to pick her out a couple of Horse books.
