In Honor of Armed Forces Day

President Harry S. Truman led the effort to establish a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country.

On August 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Days. The single-day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under one department -- the Department of Defense.  ~ The Department of Defense

Beloved works with many units from many of our Armed Forces and in some case with many other Nations. I wanted to say a quiet but public "Thank You!"

* A very carefully selected picture of some of Beloved's Military Coins. (aka: Unit Coins, Commandor coins, Pride coins, Honor Coins) "There is a proud heritage when it comes to these coins that has its roots as far back as the Roman Empire where they were given to reward achievement; much the same as today. No matter what name is associated with these coins, the meaning is the same. To reward, recognize and award a person for dedication, bravery, and team work.

  5. That's cool, the coin thing. I was going back up from your music player and read your excellent wife one and loved that. Then saw the coins and read just under them, what a joy for your family. *smile* Have a blessed day. Sincerely, Mommy of two little blessings & so much more!
