Cat Embroidery

In a cat's world, all things belong to cats, including your cotton loose ends. - Unknown

This old man use to be my cat. He claims his place as the Little Lady's cat now. After all, she has much more interesting projects that need his contribution.

You can see why she is Dakota's favorite now.  Where I keep all the items up and out of the way, she gets down the containers of sewing, knitting and embroidery floss from the guest room closet.

Of course, Dakota thinks it is fabulous that she allows him to attack the ends of the strings as she does her first project. And, of course, I get the royal snub from him when I go around and pick up the pieces.

It should come as no surprise that it was fitting for him to become the icon for her embroidery design. Nothing elaborate for her first project though. A simple picture on felt.

She learned the back stitch and the satin stitch for her little project. And, she has done several more little felt embroidery projects this past weekend too.

  1. Wow! She did a great job w/ that embroidery! Her inspirtation is pretty cute, ...those cats can have such fun personalities!
Hope she keeps up the good work.....fair time is coming up - maybe she'll have some things to enter in the fair?

  2. That is fantastic! Great job little lady! And wonderful job momma to encourage her to take on the stask of learning a new art. *smile* Sincerely, Mommy of two little blessings & so much more!

  3. What a wonderful project! So glad to see the wonderful things your little darlin's are doing!!
I still have my first embroidery project. Maybe I'll put it on my blog one of these days.

  4. That's a great job..I'm impressed mama. Dad thought you meant machine embroidery.

  5. I think I recognize that box. Glad she is learning. Great-grandma would be so proud.

  6. Beautiful project. She has done an excellent job. I love it when young girls learn things like that. Enjoy your day and God bless.

  7. Oh, Carmen!! I love her project. Hmmm gives me ideas for my Anna this summer. Such fun! "royal snub" snicker. Too cute! :)

  8. What a great project! And a cute kitty, too :-) I think I started my first embroidery and cross-stitch patterns when i was about 7 years old - gotta get 'em started early!

  9. Isn't that nice!! You know I like this post - haha! Does kitty have his tongue out in that photo? That's cute.

She chose a perfect subject for her first embroidery project.
