Cuneiform writing was invented by the ancient Sumerians around 3500 B.C. Hieroglyphic writing was invented by the ancient Egyptians around 3200 B.C. - Wiki
The Little Ones learned that the Egyptian wrote in Hieroglyphics and from the Sumarians came the Cuneiforns writing. We did a simple activity with clay where they did little messages while drawing the representation of those writing in clay. This was done in connection to the Ancient people writing on stone, clay and then eventually papryus.
That looks like a ton of fun! When we studied them a bit last year, my oldest daughter found this silly video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqyjoaPUXAI
