Running for Beads

I always loved running... it was something you could do by yourself, and under your own power. You could go in any direction, fast or slow as you wanted, fighting the wind if you felt like it, seeking out new sights just on the strength of your feet and the courage of your lungs. ~J. Owens

Starting around the beginning of the year our area has a running club that does a timed theme run event every month. (5k/10K)  This month's was the Mardi Gras Run.

Just like all the other runs, the runners are encouraged to dress up.
The outfits that people wear are just amazing!
We haven't gotten into the customs competitions but we do grab a little something for the Little Man to be festive in.

It was a cold run this morning.
20 degrees.
If it wasn't for the Little Man's enthusiasm we would have skipped the run and stays warm in bed!

However, he was up and ready to "Run for Beads".
This was lap 5.

He had to run as many laps as he could in just 10 minutes.
He did 13 laps and with each lap he was given a strand of beads.

His goal was 12 beads.
