Finally, we were able to celebrate the Little Gentleman's birthday! We did his presents already and as family gifts came in we did them as well. But, we try to celebrate our Children's birthday in a special way with a Family event. Being that the Little Gentleman turned one and isn't old enough to express what he wants to do ---Mommy got to pick!
And after dinner at Jacks Barbecue we went to the city to see.....
"The Toughest Cowboy implements a simple formate: Twelve Cowboys, Three Rides, One Champion. Each cowboy gets on three animals (Bareback horse, Saddle Bronc horse, and a Bull) and competes head to head with another cowboy for wins in each of the three rides.... At the end of it all, one cowboy will walk away with the Toughest Cowboy Championship and a deed to his own ranch."
The first event, the Cowboys ride Bareback. The Cowboys holds a leather suitcase type handle located between the horse's shoulders. He cannot touch the horse with his non-riding arm. They want to get 80 points.
The second event is the Saddle Bronc. The cowboy holds on to a thick rein attached to the horse's halter. He can not touch the animals with his free hand. It is uncontrolled thrashing of the cowboy's body on a 1,100 pound horse." They want to get 80 points.
Now, during all the events there are all sort of entertainment. Rope tricking, T-shirt tossing, and this is Whiplash! The famous cowboy monkey.
But then we came to Mommy's Favorite part.... THE BULL RIDING.
Now these cowboys have had to ride Bareback and then do Saddle Broncing and then when they are all tired out they have to do BULL RIDING! Poor things those Cowobys must be exhausted! Do I feel sorry for them? NO WAY!! I cheer for the BULL!
The cowboy grasps a flat braided rope around the bulls chest, he maintains body balance over his head by sitting up, arching his back an using his free hand to counteract the action of the bull. And just like the horse riding rounds the ride must be completed without touching the bull with the free arm. Oh and the bull typically weighs around 1,800 pounds. They want to get 85 points
