Finished is way better than perfect! - Unknown
This was the process ~ The Little Man (age 5) made an 8 1/2 by 8 1/2 paper square. He traced the square on to fabric and then he cut the squares out. Then, he sewed them together by pushing on the sewing pedal like a race car driver!
We take the easy way out! We embroider an image on the fabric to secure the "quilt" (top, batting and bottom) together. He was determined to have a boot and a horse in his squares. So, he waited patiently for weeks and weeks. I couldn't find an image that wouldn't pucker up his quilt. So, we had to enlist the help of Gigi. She came through! After looking through her designs (1000s of them) she found just the right one that would work. And, with a little technology the perfect design was loaded on to the machine.
Once again, he did the pedal. He can do the pedal at an even speed but he likes to do the very fast and the very slowest speeds! Since, we used a zig zag stitch to secure the binding, we have zig zag stitches that are tight and zigzag stitches that are spread out. The binding looks very interesting! It is definitely one of a kind and ALL his.
Little Man's 1st quilt project completed.
Yeah!!
