"In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth." Genesis 1:1
Books typically credit Pythagoras (c. 570–500 B.C.) as the first person to say that the earth is round. (Poor Galileo! But, I am glad he held up Biblical truth!) However, in my opinion modern books have it incorrect while older Historian books (even if they don't consider the Bible inspired and only a Historical account) still gave credit to whom it is due! There are biblical passages that are older than c 570-500 B.C. that acknowledge that the earth was round. The book of Isaiah in the Bible was written in 700s B.C.
Isaiah 40:22 "It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,
And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,
Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,
And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. "
How about the book of Job in the Bible? It is credited as being written by Moses around 2000 B.C.
Job 26:10 " He drew a circular horizon on the face of the waters,
At the boundary of light and darkness."
Yes, I know that there are 9 planets being represented. It is an old kit. We colored Pluto purple even though it is not considered a planet anymore. Just another confirmation, you know?! Don't you just love that Science is confirming that the Universe expanded. Why? We already know that too. Read Isaiah 40: 22 again! It suggest that the universe actually increased in size since its creation. I am glad that the Astronomers of our day are finally catching up on this concept too. The earth was created on day 1 and hangs on nothing. (Confirmed by Science through Physic laws -- Thanks Einstein!) And, the planets were created on day 4. The Earth is 3 days older.
Doesn't this sort of stuff just give your heart a little leap? I use to love this stuff when I sat underneath a Science - Theologian professor! I love to share this type of stuff. Unfortunately, it wasn't until I had little Children that God gave me a captivated audience. ;)
Great post!! Love your children!!
