Homeschool Portfolio

"If mothers could learn to do for themselves what they do for their children when these are overdone, we should have happier households. Let the mother go out to play!" ~Charlotte Mason

We are going out to play this weekend but this Momma had some book work to do over the last few weeks. So..... How to do a Portfolio!? We have a large binder for each school age child.  During these early stages of school it appears that the binder will keep 3 grades of material. This is what the greeting page looks like for the Portfolio for the Children’s School Year.     Any other suggestions?

HOME EDUCATION PROGRAM PORTFOLIO

For

(Insert Name)

Academic Year 2010-2011

Greetings!

I have included the following items in this portfolio.

a. Homeschool Legal Defense Association membership letter

b. State Homeschool Requirements

c. A copy of my letter of intent to the Superintendent of my school district (this would be from the state that I am currently residing in)

d. A copy of my letter I received from the superintendent

e. A copy of immunizations (These are always with me and I have a letter that says I do not release them and that my current state does not require it.)

f. Evaluator’s Letter – ( I wrote a letter saying that I did not include an Evaluator’s letter, certifying that the student has received an appropriate education. My state doesn’t require this but the next one does so that is why it is included here)

g. Attendance chart, indicating 180+ days of instruction

h. Log and Resources Page –

       1. A summary of the Subjects in which we cover and also a summary of Work extra curricular activities

       2. Title of Curriculum (publisher/author) with a copy of the Table of Contents

       3. Samples of work for each subject

       4. Read Aloud List ( I did not include a list that the Children read on their own! Um. I couldn’t keep up with it even if I wanted to!)

       5. Evaluation

               a. Grades

               b. Standardized Achievement Test – I did not include any results because the state that we live in now does not require it. So I have a letter stating that however our next state does require we test every year.

i. Certificates and Awards

j. Photos of them doing their work and extra curricular activities
