Horse Paint Pampering

There is just as much horse sense as ever, but the horses have most of it. ~ Unknown

The Little Ones decided to cool Lola off on this hot day by giving her a spa treatment.

At first, I am sure she probably felt very appreciative of all the attention and really enjoyed the cool colored water paints but then...

because she already keeps her hooves filed nicely the Little Ones convinced her that paint polish is a must for her just in case she decides to not wear her horseshoes.

She had her hair braided in small sections too but she wasn't so sure about the amount of blush that was put on!

I tell ya,  Lola comes from a different blood line than I do!! And, even though she seems to have class,  she can trace her royal blood lines back for generations, my eye brows still went up when I saw that she had things painted across her back end! I am of the thought process that NO lady should ever want to draw attention to the "junk in the trunk."

Maybe she did feel that  "less is more" but when you have new colors in stock and every one wants a piece of you, I suppose it is just easier to go with the flow!

This Spa day was opened to not just Lola though. The Little Ones' trainer had horse camp this week and so at least 6 to 8 horses were painted by all sorts of little girls and boys.

Lola thought the attention was fabulous but after we left our hand prints, she probably felt that after bath day tomorrow it might just make more sense to go back to rolling on her own mud!

  3. Lola is very docile and calm. She is the horse that the Trainers use for riding/shooting gun competitions.

  6. I had no idea that could be done! What fun for the kids. Did they just use a hose to rinse the horse off afterwards?

  7. OH MY! I grew up with neighbor friends having horses. In exchange for me to ride often I helped groom them. But I never dreamed of this kind of horse spa, LOL. That horse must be very good natured!

Thanks for giving a peek into your world.

    Blessings and ((HUGS))

  9. You gals probably have seen it plenty of times in American Indian history pictures. They use to paint their horses for war.

Here is a site that tells of the symbols on a war horse. Scroll down. I linked directly to the article with the markings and the meanings. Enjoy!

  11. Don't know about all of them but these do! We have seen them scratch their backs in mud puddles on a hot day after a rain shower.

  12. Thanks for the link that is great, I grew up watching 'old' black and white cowboy/native american fils with my dad. We used to compete in gun show as well, and have always loved horses. My little one figured out we could house a shetland pony if we wanted to, in our back yard. So we are looking forward to horse riding lessons this fall. My husband even mentioned a move to Nebraska, on a whim and she was excited because they 'all' have horse there. So cute how children percieve the "country" we live in sometimes. Have a very blessed day.
