It's a Flop

There is one thing more exasperating than a spouse who can cook and won't, and that's a spouse who can't cook and will. - Unknown

I like trying new recipes and have never  been afraid to do so! My goal is to try two to three new recipes a month. However, sometimes that means I have to risk having a dinner that flops! My Chicken Marbella flopped pretty badly.  Beloved said, "Why are there prunes in it?"  (giggle!)

I assured him that I would just cook him homemade Spaghetti today. After all when a Man heads out of town you want his last meal to be a good memory.

* Check out Elise's recipes and photos.

  4. Funny! I try new things all the time, and usually it's ME that doesn't like the outcome - but my husband usually loves it. Keep trying! A few of my "new" recipes have become our favorites!

  6. I flopped this week as i poured seasoning into the chicken a la king the sprkinle top flew off and 1/4 cup of organic no salt spice (mostly pepper/garlic) nearly ruined dinner. My husband even told me it would be fine and tested it to only have his eyes pop out and water be much needed, and he loves pepper. It is funny how our best intentions aren't always edible. BTW it is BLT pita's tonight :).Have a blessed day.

  9. Marianna. Oh, I miss the Sisterhood we shared on Xanga too. I loved how all of us ladies came together for comments and encouragment!!! Often, I think we should create a Sisterhood here where we purposely are accountable in uplifting each other here! I wonder who would be game?!

Thank You for your sweet words about missing me on FB. I miss seeing all of your VOH pictures. You girls were such a highlight to my day when I would see your stats. And, of course, I think your Mom is just top-notch!

I would like to see a glimps of your broach! You gals always dress so classy!

  10. I love the quote too! I'm not a cook and hesitant to try. What a great attitude you have though! I might have to try a new recipe this month!

  11. Was it the prunes, or the fact that there was fruit in itat all? Some folks just don't care for fruit in their dinner, and I've had a couple of those in my family!
It sounds like an interesting recipe to me (but I guess I won't bother to try it) :)

  12. The chicken didn't really have much taste. The prunes fought with the red wine vinegar, I think. If I make it again, I would leave out the capers and the prunes but keep everything else because it really was a nice gravy over wild rice.
