This past week has been read a book for $1.00!!!
Obviously, the Little Miss doesn't get paid but she sure does like to join along in bringing out her books! She is most possessive of her little basket too! She is *reading* "Find the duck".
The Little Gentleman ... "get something without a tractor on it" ... please!!!
The dollar a book incentives is for the Little Man. He knows how to read, he just doesn't enjoy reading. However, he does like money! We call him the money man. He is the only one we know that can go to a park and come out with more money than with what he came in. Hints, the $1.00 challenge! I am hoping it will get him into a different thought process about reading and a little practice at bigger words!
When it came the Little Lady, I had another thing to deal with! She has almost read everything in the house and so going to the book closet and picking out 10 books for her was a different scenario. Most of her books are 130 pages long so I had to up the incentive to $2.00 per book! However, I did pull out some easy reading books that she hadn't touched because she said they didn't look interesting! A good lesson in not judging a book by its cover, I suppose. Teddy's Button took her all of 20 minutes to read and was just a quick money transition for her as she prepares to read a thicker book that doesn't have an interesting cover!
The last day of earning money from book reading is tomorrow.
The books will get packed up for the move and I will be happily broke!

ReplyDeleteWe did that when the girls were younger and it really worked. They couldn't wait to read books so they could earn money. Now they both enjoy reading. When they earn money for themselves they always want to go to the book store to get new books. Enjoy your day and God bless.
