Stirring up School freedom

This is the first duty of an educator; stir up life, but leave it free to develop”
 (Montessori, 1985, 111).

This past weekend, we were waiting for God to dim the lights down low.

So, we could have a fire, eat Marshmallows and look at the stars.

While waiting I read several Children's books and did a little research on what I wanted them to do next for their science notebooks. I need to get ahead a good bit of the Little Lady and the Little Man in their school work. I have so many books that they are to read by themselves but it requires me to read them before I hand them off. I am extremely picky about what my children read! ;)   If I stir myself up to look and keep ahead than we go more quickly with more freedom. It is the freedom of creativity that I like to see best not the challenge of staying a step ahead!

  1. I love your toes. So cute. I don't think my girls could survive Saturday night "torture". I can hardly get them to let me curl their hair with a curling iron on special occasions. In answer to your question, our Shadow is 10 years old. Enjoy your day and God bless.

  2. Such a cute pic of your toes by the fire pit. I try to preread stuff for my kids and prewatch tv and movies. It is hard but I agree it must be done.

  5. Now that I told you about it - Anna just told me it was boring. Ha! Oops. Guess I should've checked with her first. It is a Newberry Honor Book though ;)
